What are the problems it addresses?

There is no doubt that milk is a product that is being consumed regardless of socio-economic and geographical boundaries. The supply chain of milk and its dairy products in India is divided into the organized sector as with the state-operated co-operatives and private companies, but the major chuck about 70% is the unorganized sector with the following problems:

  1. Dairy farmers getting stable and a good price for the milk.
  2. The standardization in milk’s quantity and quality.
  3. Wastage of milk due to poor infrastructure and procedures.
  4. Adulteration and unhygienic means for the collection and distribution of milk
  5. Localized reach to consumers.

How does “Milkvilla” aims to solve these problems?

“Milkvilla” is a hyperlocal supply chain network with direct access to primary producers and consumers. The above problems are tackled as:

  1. The dairy farmers get a standard price for the milk they give and that is collected at their doorsteps.
  2. Milk collected from dairy farmers is being micro-tested and collected.
  3. The journey of Milk from collection to distribution is scrutinized under well-maintained refrigerated containers infrastructure, there is minimum to no scope for wastage and leakage of milk.
  4. There is no scope for any adulteration as the milk is being tested during collection and the same milk reaches the consumers
  5. With a dedicated distribution network, reach to consumers has expanded.

How does “Milkvilla” works?

The sole aim for “Milkvilla” is to deliver milk in its purest form. It is a decentralized network of farmers and consumers where primarily milk collection and delivery happen at the doorstep in non-packaged form.

To break it down the milk collection carts collect the fresh milk from the farmers and deliver it to a storage unit that is stores milk under chilled temperature for it to be fresh till delivery, it helps milk retain its freshness up to 12 hours. From there the milk is delivered to the consumers through milk carts without any package or adulteration. The milk is dispensed through an electronic dispenser which is connected and controlled by the app, so there is zero human interference.

The entire supply chain is structured and operated through “Milkvilla app”. One can log in to app as dairy farmer, consumer, where your entire transactions for the purchase or sell of milk will be logged. It is a very user friendly and clean app that anyone can operate.
